It is therefore the mission of the CRIMINOLOGY PROGRAM to provide the community with professionally competent and morally upright graduates who can deliver efficient and effective services in crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement, and custody and rehabilitation of offenders, among others.

Program Overview

Program Intended Learning Outcomes

  • Rigid foundation in the basic concept in determining criminal liability and civil liability, the corresponding course of action and imposable penalty
  • Knowledge and excellent understanding of constitutional mandates and rights
  • Knowledge, skills, attitudes and values essential to the practice of Criminology in the fields of Forensic Sciences, law enforcement administration, Criminology, criminal law and procedure, correctional administration, Professionalism and civic awareness and in defense tactics
  • Keen understanding on the phenomenon of criminality and its causation and prevalentness
  • Knowledgeable in Law Enforcement Organization, Operation and Administration and its role in the Criminal Justice System and in the community
  • Scientifically competent in processing evidence from inception to being expert witness
  • Widen the perspective of the application of Criminology in the society and its allied agency in promoting constitutional mandates and public safety
  • Mastery in standard operating procedure and legal requirement as to the application of Forensic Sciences such as; Forensic Photography, Personal Identification, forensic toxicology, Forensic Ballistic, Polygraphy and Questioned Documents

Eligible Government Positions

Registered Criminologists are exempted from taking government/civil service entrance examinations and are eligible for:

  • Police Officer (up to Police Superintendent)
  • Jail Officer (up to Jail Superintendent)
  • Criminal Investigator & Special Agent
  • Investigative Agent & Intelligence Agent
  • Forensic Specialist (Dactylographer, Ballistician, Questioned Document Examiner)
  • Forensic Photographer & Polygraph Examiner
  • Probation & Parole Officer
  • Fire Marshal & Firefighter
  • Law Enforcement Evaluation Officer
  • NAPOLCOM Inspector
  • Traffic Operation Officer
  • Associate Graft Investigation Officer
  • Special Police Officer & Security Officer
  • Safekeeping Officer & Sheriff
  • Warden & Reformation Officer
  • And other positions in law enforcement agencies and entities under the Criminal Justice System
